Safe in Their Cryogenic Chambers
by C. A. Gardner
(with apologies to Emily Dickinson)

Safe in their Cryogenic Chambers--
Frozen past Pain on a hopeful Noon--
The dreamers await their Resurrection--
Veins of Snow--
In titanium Tomb.

Bobbing along on the crest of Eons--
Castaways dying--but never Dead--
Slumber--chaste stasis--
Through time's Tumult--Ageless
Figments of Life
In a drowsing head.

Worlds wheel--unwaking--their Life Eternal--
Asteroids crash--
And suns decline--
Voyagers drift--indestructible--Timeless
Miniscule Ships
On a Quest Divine
